Graham Potter believes Jay Fulton can fulfil his potential at Swansea City after signing a new deal at the club.

Fulton today penned a contract which ties him to the Liberty until the summer of 2021 – extending his previous deal by 12 months.

The Scot has featured prominently under Potter this season, playing 12 times – scoring twice – so far.

His appearances this term make up almost a third of his total for the club since he joined the Swans in 2014.

And Potter believes Fulton, who has spent time on loan with Oldham and Wigan in previous seasons, now has the opportunity to develop himself further.

“I’m really happy that Jay will be with us for longer because he’s a great lad on and off the pitch,” said Potter.

“He wasn’t too sure on what role he had at the club this summer because he hadn’t played too much in past seasons, but now you see what he can do when given an opportunity to play regularly.

“He’s a good footballer and has shown he can play in different roles in midfield.

“From day one he has been open to what we want to do and he wants to improve, which is really important.

“We all feel he can do that here – there’s a lot more to come from Jay and we’re all looking forward to seeing him develop and become a better player for Swansea City.”
