Jay Fulton toasted his first league goal for Swansea City as Graham Potter’s side sealed a second consecutive win of the season.

The 24-year-old headed home the only goal of the game as the Swans held on for victory against Preston at the Liberty.

Fulton’s only previous goal for the club came in August 2016 in a League Cup win over Peterborough, but this proved far more important as the hosts just got over the line against a determined Preston side.

The Scot rose highest to meet Joel Asoro’s cross in the 33rd minute, with Fulton looping his header over keeper Declan Rudd.

The victory follows on from an opening-day win at Sheffield United, and Fulton was delighted to have made a huge contribution to Potter’s latest success.

“It was great to get my first league goal for the Swans,” said Fulton. “It could not have come at a better time for us

“I am happy I scored but it is about the team getting the win.

“Back-to-back wins means a lot. You can see the team spirit we are showing.

“The second half was tough going for everyone but we stuck together and managed to keep a clean sheet and get the win.”
