Joe Davies eager to get started to new life at Swansea City
New arrival Joe Davies is eager to get started and make an impact at Swansea City having made the switch to south Wales.
The 19-year-old, previously with Peterborough United, joins on a one-year deal through to June 2027 with the option of an additional 12 months.
The winger arrives in Swansea having long been aware of the club's identity and style of play, and he is looking forward to making his own mark SA1.
"I'm buzzing to be here at such a big club. I heard so many amazing things about this club when I was younger to now, I can't wait to get started," said Davies.
"Coming from Welsh descent, I've always known about Swansea and about how they play, so to be here is amazing."
Milton Keynes-born, Davies entered a professional academy later than most players, playing local grassroots football until the age of 14.
A few years later, he helped Peterborough lift silverware by scoring the winning goal in the Under-18 Professional Development League Cup final in May 2025.
"I was mainly in grassroots teams, up until I was around 14," he added.
"I got picked up on an open day trial at Peterborough, went in for further trials and then I signed as an under-14.
"Being from Milton Keynes, it was a lot of travelling back and forth for training and games, but I eventually moved into digs when I signed my scholarship.
"I had a few ups and downs in my last year at Peterborough, I did sign my first pro last year but scoring the winning goal in the cup final is probably my favourite moment."
But it was actually a winning performance from Davies against the Swans in April that caught the eye of head of academy recruitment, Paul Robinson.
The winger played a vital role in the 2-0 for victory for The Posh, which ended the under-21s' five-year unbeaten streak at the Swansea.com Stadium.
"I've played against Swansea many times, as an under-16 to last year as a pro," said Davies.
"They've always been a hard team to come up against, and I feel my style of play is going to fit in well, I just want to create chances and score goals.
"From that stadium game, I played well. Then Robbo [Paul Robinson] got in touch with my agent, and I came down for a trial and now I'm here!"
Davies is determined to make the most of the opportunity and is already aiming to make an impression in pre-season.
And the teenager got off to a fine start by netting two goals in the under-21s' opening friendly of the campaign against Pure Swansea FC.
"I'm enjoying pre-season so far, the double sessions are tough but they work you really hard and in the right way for the season," added Davies.
"I've gotten to know a lot of the boys, they're all great as are the coaches.
"I can't wait to get the season started."
