Josh Tymon says Swansea City have to start putting teams away when they have the opportunity after the frustration of defeat to Plymouth Argyle.

The Swans suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Pilgrims on a matchday which was dedicated to cancer support charity Maggie’s.

Morgan Whittaker’s first-half finish from a smartly-worked corner routine proved enough for the visitors.

The Swans had 70 per cent possession and registered 19 shots, but were unable to find the back of the net with Conor Hazard saving well to deny Jerry Yates and Charlie Patino, while Liam Cullen hit the crossbar.

And Tymon was also frustrated with the manner in which Swansea conceded the crucial goal, and knows they cannot afford to costly lapses in both penalty areas.

“It’s frustrating, I think, more than anything,” he said.

“To concede the way we did is unlike us, because we’ve got a good record from defending set-pieces. It was a bit of a kick in the teeth.

“I thought we started the game on the front foot, and that continued throughout the game. I think the overall stats in the game, they’re way in our favour, but you have to take your chances in this league.

“I think our performances since the new manager has come in have been good, the lads have bought into what he wants from the team. We’ve added a few new faces which has given us a lift and you’ve seen signs of what they can do.

“But we need to be more clinical, that’s the bottom line of it. If we do that, we’ll start putting teams away.”

Tymon's signed match-worn shirt is available for auction with all money raised going to Maggie's Swansea.
