Midfielder Kelly Adams believes Swansea City Ladies need to keep the focus on their own performance as two of the early pacesetters in the Genero Adran Premier clash in Sunday's south Wales derby.

The Swans and Cardiff City Women come into the game with two wins from two, with neither side having conceded a league goal so far.

Adams knows just how big the game is given the sides have been perennial title contenders for a number of years, but is looking to treat it as she would any other fixture.

“Cardiff City is always a big game for us, I think all of the girls are really excited for the fixture on Sunday,” said Adams.

“It’s been a really good start for us to get six points out of six, but we try not to look back, we try to take each game as it comes.

“t’s a big game but we just treat it as any other game and we try and get three points out of the fixture.

“They have come on massively in these last couple of seasons, they’ve got some really good young players coming through, but we will look to stick to our game plan and what we do week in week out.”

Adams goes into the game having featured in the Genero Adran Premier team of the week for her performance against Barry Town United last time out.

The midfielder felt that last week's 1-0 win tested her side's attacking ability against a stubborn defensive unit, and it has been an area of focus heading into this week's game.

“We were really tested in our attacking abilities last week and it’s something that we’ve worked on this week and we will be trying to implement that," she added.

“I’ve never actually been in the team of the week before so it was a nice surprise when I was in it, I’m really pleased. I hope I can continue to play well and contribute."
