Kit Margetson is looking forward to another three years in SA1, after the teenager put pen to paper on his first professional contract at Swansea City.

Margetson - who signed the deal on his 17th birthday - has been at the Swans since under-16 level and earned his pro deal following his impressive efforts as a scholar.

The young keeper also played a vital role in Wales Under-17s' successful European Championship qualification and the tournament itself.

“I’m really looking forward to the challenge, and to see what the next three years hold," said Margetson.

“I was offered the contract just before the end of last season, and I was so delighted. I couldn’t wait to sign, and now I finally have, it feels amazing.

Margetson more than 15 appearances for Swansea City's Under-18s last season, and was named on the bench for the under-21s on several occasions.

“The first half of the season, I was just getting used to adapting to the life of being a first-year scholar," he added.

“I can’t thank the coaching staff enough for helping me progress, and eventually I have got my reward here and with Wales."

The teenager also had a taste of first-team football in the Championship after having the opportunity to warm-up alongside Andy Fisher and Lewis Webb at the DW Stadium ahead of Swansea's fixture at Wigan in April.

“It was such an eye-opening experience, to be around the first-team environment and warming up in front of thousands of people," he added.

“It was the full Championship experience, and I got to learn a lot from Andy Fisher and Lewis Webb. I hope to get more of those opportunities in the future."

Margetson has continued with the under-18s with their pre-season under way, and he is hoping to make a positive start to the new campaign.

“Now that pre-season has started, I just need to keep working hard. I’ve set goals that I want to achieve, and my aim is to reach every single one of them," added Margetson.

“I’m looking forward to this season already. It’ll be a new challenge now. I can’t wait to see how the season goes, there are some new faces this year.

“I’m sure if we all stick together, it will be a productive and great season.”
