Swansea City striker Liam Cullen is looking forward to the 2024-25 season,  believing things are heading in the right direction under Luke Williams despite a final-day defeat to Millwall at the Swansea.com Stadium.

The Swans suffered a narrow defeat to the Lions, with Casper De Norre’s goal late in the second half proving to be the difference, although Williams’ side had opportunities with Matt Grimes seeing his penalty saved while Jamie Paterson and Ronald also had chances.

And, while Cullen and his teammates were disappointed to end the season with defeat after a four-match unbeaten run, he believes the overall progress under the new head coach and coaching team has been evident.

“That was a big disappointment,” said Cullen of the defeat.

“Finishing with a loss was not what we wanted, but I feel like we’ve finished the season well over the past 10 games.

“Hopefully, we can take that momentum going into next year. We have a lot to work on with the staff and as a group so, hopefully, now after we rest up over the summer, we’ll be ready to kick on and go again next year.

“It’s been a season of ups and downs and we’ve been dipping in and out of form a little bit individually and as a team.

“But since the gaffer’s come in with his staff it’s been a breath of fresh air, and I love coming in every day and working for them.

“I love working on the training ground and in games, and I don’t plan on stopping that anytime soon because I love working for them.

“I think we’ve been chasing the intensity and fitness levels that are required to play for Luke Williams, and we played some really top sides at the start of his reign here, but to get a full pre-season is probably one of the most important things ahead for us.

“As long as we get fit and go into pre-season strong and ready, I think next season will be a really positive one.”
