Bafe Gomis scored the only goal as Marseille beat Metz 1-0 at the weekend.
The 31-year-old struck his sixth goal in nine appearances for Marseille, with his 13th-minute strike proving the difference.
His goal maintained Marseille's unbeaten record at home, while victory moved them up to 12th in Ligue 1.
Meanwhile, Marvin Emnes played the full 90 minutes for Blackburn as they were held 0-0 at home by Ipswich in the Championship.
Kyle Bartley started while Matt Grimes came off the bench as Leeds slipped to a 1-0 loss at Derby.
Bartley featured for the whole game while Grimes was introduced with ten minutes to go.
In League One, Kenji Gorre made a late appearance as Northampton missed the chance to move into the play-offs following a 3-1 home defeat by Millwall.
Ryan Hedges and Josh Sheehan both started as they went head-to-head in League Two as Yeovil hosted bottom club Newport County.
Sheehan made his first start for the Exiles before being replaced in the 86th minute while Hedges followed suit three minutes later as the Glovers recorded a 1-0 win.
Meanwhile, Franck Tabanou (Granada), Josh Vickers (Barnet), Adam King (Southend), Connor Roberts and Liam Shephard (Yeovil) didn't feature for their loan clubs at the weekend.
