Head coach Luke Williams says Swansea City are showing signs they can develop into a very good side, after again displaying different elements of their game to beat Plymouth Argyle 2-1 at Home Park.

The Swans extended their unbeaten run to four games, courtesy of goals from Jay Fulton and Liam Cullen and a determined late defensive effort after Mustapha Bundu had pulled one back for the hosts.

The visitors showed their quality and control on the ball, outstanding deliveries from Josh Tymon and Myles Peart-Harris being matched by the calibre of the finishes from Fulton and Cullen.

But they were again resilient as Plymouth piled bodies forward in the closing stages, and did not concede a chance of note in that period as they moved into the top 10 of the Championship.

“I was pleased with the performance tonight,” said the Swans boss.

“We have played some really good football and created some decent chances, but we also showed that strength that is becoming a big part of our characteristics as a team.

“So I was pleased to see both sides of the game from us tonight. The opposition definitely had a desire to try and correct their recent run and they made it very, very tough for us.

“We had to stand up to a lot of pressure. We wobbled a little bit at times but we were able to get a foothold again and it is really pleasing to see because it means you can win games in a different fashion. If we want to be a really good side we have to be able to do that.”

Williams also confirmed Joe Allen has picked up a small muscle injury that will keep the Wales midfielder out for a few weeks.

“Unfortunately, Joe picked up a small injury in the last game, we think it will only be a matter of a few weeks,” he said.

“He is going to be sidelined for a little while, but we are not too concerned. The medical team are happy it is nothing major and they can get a grip on it.”
