Swansea City striker Oli McBurnie has signed for Barnsley on a season-long loan deal.

The Scotland Under-21 international has been allowed to leave as the Swans are keen for him to play regular football.

McBurnie arrived at the Liberty Stadium from Bradford City in the summer of 2015.

The 21-year-old has played for the Swans’ senior side on nine occasions, and scored two goals in his solitary start at Peterborough in the League Cup last season.

McBurnie has come on as a substitute in all three of the Swans’ Premier League games so far this season, but Paul Clement has sanctioned the youngster’s move after bolstering his attacking options with the arrival of Wilfried Bony.

McBurnie, who was born in Leeds, came through the ranks at Bradford before moving to South Wales.

He has since had loan spells at Newport County and Bristol Rovers, but will get a first taste of Championship football in Barnsley colours.

McBurnie joins former Swans youngster Ryan Hedges at Oakwell.
