Steve Cooper has confirmed Nathan Dyer suffered a hamstring injury in Swansea City’s win over Preston.

The experienced winger was forced off after just 22 minutes after going down on the edge of the North End area.

He was replaced by Andre Ayew and, while Cooper did not say how long Dyer will be sidelined for, he suggested he will need to consider other wide options with games against QPR and Birmingham looming on the horizon.

“I think it’s a hamstring. It’s frustrating getting a muscle injury – that’s the first one we have had,” said the Swans head coach.

“Nathan is disappointed because he is such a good professional and he has worked his way into the team, but we are hoping it’s not a bad one.

“We have got good options in terms of replacements, particularly up the top of the pitch.”
