Numbers game: Swans v West Ham

3rd March
First team

It is time to check out the numbers as we look ahead to Swansea City’s Premier League clash with West Ham at the Liberty Stadium today (3pm).

The Swans are looking to continue their fine run of home form against David Moyes's Hammers side.

SWANS

3 – After beating them 4-1 in the penultimate match at Upton Park in May 2016, the Swans have lost each of their last three Premier League meetings with West Ham.

6 – The Swans have won their last six home games in succession, which equals their best run at the Liberty Stadium. They last won more than six in a row back in 2004-05.

1 – The Swans lost their last Premier League game, at Brighton last weekend, but haven’t lost back-to-back matches since Paul Clement’s final two games in charge in December.

10 – The Swans have scored 10 goals in eight Premier League games under Carlos Carvalhal. That is only one fewer than they did in the 20 before he arrived this season, despite averaging marginally fewer shots per game under his management.

7 – Carvalhal’s side have scored the lowest total number of Premier League goals (seven) and the lowest percentage (33 per cent) of their top-flight goals in the opening 45 minutes of games this season.

2 – Andre Ayew has scored two goals in the last four Premier League meetings between these sides, once for Swansea in May 2016 and once for West Ham in this exact fixture last season.

WEST HAM

4 – West Ham are unbeaten in four top-flight league visits to the Liberty Stadium since losing their first-such match there (0-3 in August 2012), drawing three before winning 4-1 in this exact fixture last season.

52 – West Ham’s away games in the Premier League this season have seen 52 goals scored in total (F19 A33) – only Liverpool’s (56) have seen more.

3 – Both of West Ham’s away wins this season have been by a three-goal margin (3-0 at Stoke, 4-1 at Huddersfield).

11 – The Hammers have scored in each of their last 11 Premier League games, the second longest current run in the division (behind Tottenham on 16) and their second best ever such run in the competition.

7 – Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez are West Ham’s joint-leading scorers this season with seven goals each. Andre Ayew (six) is next in the list.
