Swansea City Under-18s' coach Ollie Jefferies was gutted for his players after they suffered an agonising 3-2 defeat against rivals Cardiff City.

Thomas Woodward had opened the scoring for the Swans with his eighth goal of the season, after a fine cross from Yori Griffith picked out the 16-year-old in the area.

Rohan Davies made it 2-0 after the break with his third goal in two games; Woodward turning provider from a Swans corner.

However, a second-half hat-trick from Trey George saw the Bluebirds snatch all three points in the final moments.

"Overall, I really am gutted for the boys," said Jefferies.

"In the first half we had so many great moments, and we rewarded those with two great goals from Woody [Thomas Woodward] and Rohan [Davies].

"We pressed them really high in the first period, created lots of promising chances and they did everything we asked of them.

"At half-time, the discussion was about maintaining that with the help of the substitutes who came on. In the second half, again there were good moments, but Cardiff pushed on and in the end got the better of us.

"As I said, as staff its gutting to see the boys down afterwards. They didn't let the emotion of the game get to them on the pitch, they really pushed themselves.

"We'll use the moments that didn't go well as learning points, and we'll start next week fresh and ready to go again."
