Pablo: We deserved more

28th December

Pablo Hernandez felt the Swans deserved all three points after being held to a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa.

Villa went ahead on early when Gabby Agbonlahor finished off a neat move, but Roland Lamah levelled for the visitors from Hernandez's cross.

The visitors dominated for long periods but couldn't find a winner that would have moved them back into the top half of the Premier League.

However, Hernandez insisted the Swans were disappointed not to have claimed a win at Villa Park.

"We have one more point, but the team is not happy because we should have got the three points," said the winger.

"We had great control of the game, both with possession and the chances we created, but it is never easy when the other team scores so early. But the mentality of our team is very good and we showed a lot of passion.

"After they scored we controlled the game. We worked hard but just couldn't find that crucial second goal.

"In the next game we will play the same way and if we can play like we did today then more often than not we will win."

Hernandez was one of seven changes made by Michael Laudrup following the 1-0 defeat against Chelsea on Boxing Day.

The Spaniard was making only his 15th appearance of the season after suffering a couple of injuries since the start of the campaign.

And the winger showed glimpses of his undoubted ability in the draw with Villa, causing problems on both flanks and providing a fine cross for Lamah's equalising goal.

"After three months and two injuries, it is nice for me to be back," he said. "I'm feeling a lot better now and I needed five or six games to get my confidence back.

"I thought I had that today but my happiness is not quite complete because we didn't get the win."

The Swans now welcome in-form Manchester City to the Liberty Stadium on New Years Day.

And Hernandez is hoping that he and his team-mates can get back to winning ways on home soil.

"It's going to be a difficult game," he said. "One month ago we played them and we lost, but we played a good game.

"They are a great team, with big players, but at home we can beat anyone in the Premier League."
