Graham Potter has thanked the fans for the part they have played in helping Swansea City’s youngsters develop this season.

Potter has handed a host of development squad players a first-team chance since taking charge at the Liberty in the summer.

His decision to inject some youth into the Swans squad had paid dividends, with the likes of Joe Rodon, Connor Roberts and Daniel James flourishing under Potter’s guidance.

James has been particularly impressive in the Swans’ recent home fixtures – and Potter feels that is partly down to the crowd.

“I think you have seen certainly in the last three home matches that Dan has enjoyed his football,” Potter said.

“That’s good to see and a big thank you goes to our supporters.

“The environment they are creating helps the players enjoy their football.

“We speak about coaches and tactics, but also the environment in which these players are playing is really important.

“Our players appreciate the environment our fans are creating at the Liberty.”

Rodon’s good form was rewarded today as he put pen to paper on a new long-term Swans contract.

And Potter hopes the central defender will be the first of many to recommit to the club.

“There are a few players who are out of contract at the end of the season and work is ongoing,” Potter added.

“We are delighted to have announced Joe’s contract today and I am sure there will be more in the days, weeks and months ahead.”
