Preview | Norwich City v Swansea City

27th April
First team
Carrow Road

Swansea City travel to Carrow Road to face play-off hopefuls Norwich City this afternoon (3pm) looking to continue their strong recent run of form.

The 616-mile round trip is the last one Luke Williams' side and the travelling Jack Army will make this season.

The Swans will look to round off their 2023-24 away campaign with a good performance and result, as they seek to build on three consecutive wins against Stoke City, Rotherham United and Huddersfield Town.

The Canaries are also in fine form, picking up 11 points from a possible 18 over their last six games (one more than the Swans). They are currently sixth in the table, and could seal a play-off spot this weekend if they win and Hull City drop points at home to Ipswich Town.

TEAM NEWS

Teams walk out

Luke Williams expects to have the same group of players to select from for this afternoon’s assignment against Norwich, with no fresh injury concerns following last weekend’s victory against Huddersfield Town.

Kyle Naughton, Joe Allen, Przemysław Płacheta, and Josh Ginnelly remain sidelined.

PRE-MATCH VIEWS

Luke Williams: “Norwich are going to be looking to secure their play-off position.

“We know the challenge is going to be very tough. We have to keep trying to improve our performances.

“This will be the biggest test that we’ve faced in recent weeks.

“We’re on the back of three wins, three clean sheets, eight goals scored, and in the last two games we didn’t face a shot on target against us.

“Watching these players, you can see the team are playing in a good way.”

David Wagner: "We are one step away from qualification and this is what it is all about.

“We respect our opponent, but this game is about the final step.

“We experienced [playing a team with nothing to play for] a week ago. We saw what we should and shouldn't do, now let's learn our lessons. The difference is the clarity.

“Managers need a bit of time to get their message across, and this is what Swansea have done in recent weeks. It looks very good, so we are aware of this.

“There will be more or less no surprises. Their approach and style is clear.”

MEET THE OFFICIALS

James Linington refereeing

James Linington will be the man in charge this afternoon.

This is the second Swans match the Isle of Wight official has taken charge of this season, having overseen the season opener against Birmingham City.

He will be assisted by Andrew Fox, and Andrew Dallison. The fourth official will be Ed Duckworth.

REMEMBER THE LAST TIME?

It's been almost a year to the day since the Swans last trip to face Norwich. On that occasion they produced an outstanding away display to secure a first victory at Carrow Road in 15 years.

The Swans surged into a two-goal lead thanks to headers from Joel Latibeaudiere and Liam Cullen.

The hosts were then reduced to 10 when Sam McCallum brought down Cullen as the striker threatened to score again.

Olivier Ntcham went on to add to Swansea’s tally after the break to secure the points.

PRIME NUMBERS

3 - The Swans have recorded three consecutive league clean sheets for the first time in over a year. The feat has helped Harry Darling's stats as he's overtaken skipper Matt Grimes at the top of the season-long WhoScored.com player rankings.

5/6 - Norwich City (5th) and Swansea City (6th) are two of the league's in-form teams, picking up 11 and 10 points respectively in their past six matches.

9 - The Swans have won just once - last season's 3-0 victory - in their previous nine visits to Carrow Road.
