Preview | Swansea City U18s vs QPR U18s
Swansea City Under-18s welcome Queens Park Rangers Under-18s to Landore in the Professional Development League on Saturday (11am).
The young Swans head into the game following an impressive 1-1 draw against an unbeaten Sheffield United after being reduced to ten men.
Swansea remain unbeaten in 2022, having drawn both of their opening games this year.
QPR go into the game off the back of a 2-2 draw with Bristol City, suffering defeat in their other game this year, losing 6-3 on the road to Charlton Athletic.
The R’s currently sit two points ahead of the Swans in the Professional Development League group south, with both teams looking to climb as high as seventh with a win.
Swansea City Under-18s manager Darren Davies: “There were a few tired bodies after the Sheffield United game, so thankfully they’ve had chance to rest up and train and get ready to go again.
“The message to the players remains the same, this is youth development and it’s a continuous process for the players.
“We’ve been solid out of possession, we’ve had some fantastic passages of play in possession which is fundamentally the philosophy of the club.
“We’ll keep chugging away, we’re on the right track, we can see that, the boys can see that and there is a belief now which is a great positive for us.”
Previous meeting
In the previous meeting between these two sides, Swansea suffered stoppage-time heartbreak as they were beaten 3-2 away from home.
The young Swans twice came from behind at Heston Sports Ground, with strikes from Rio Campbell and Cameron Congreve appearing to secure a share of the spoils.
But there was to be a late twist as the hosts snatched all three points with a free-kick deep into stoppage time.
