The 2023-24 Championship season draws to a close this afternoon as Swansea City host Millwall at the Swansea.com Stadium (12.30pm kick-off).

The Swans will be hoping to keep up their recent momentum and finish the season with a five-match unbeaten run to their names.

After two long away trips to Huddersfield and Norwich returned four points, the Swans now have the chance to round things off with a win on home soil.

But the visitors arrive in fine form themselves, and will provide another stern test for Luke Williams’ men.

TEAM NEWS

Harry Darling Middlesbrough

Williams will be without Harry Darling who is set to miss the final game of the season after requiring surgery on a foot injury.

His options remain otherwise unchanged from previous games at Norwich City and Huddersfield Town.

Joe Allen, Kyle Naughton, Sam Parker, Josh Ginnelly and Przemyslaw Placheta are also sidelined for the Swans.

PRE-MATCH VIEWS

Luke Williams: "There’s a lot riding on the game.

"We have to continue to make a good feeling and build trust with the fans so that there’s a minimum expectation. On a good day, we want to exceed that expectation, and on a bad day we won’t want to drop below that expectation.

"I think it’s fair to say we’ve built momentum with performances and results.

"There’s no easy way to play against Millwall. The manager understands the club. When you have a manager who understands a club exactly, and he can get the players to understand then that is a powerful thing.

"They’re not scared of anything, they can soak up pressure and try to hurt you. We’re going to have to be clean with everything we do, because they’ll hurt you if we are not."

Neil Harris: "Ultimately, this football club is based around a working man's attitude: desire, aggression - with the ball and without the ball.

"But we need to find a way of trying to be that Millwall unit, that Millwall family, that aggressive Millwall team that fans demand [but], with a touch of elegance and class. That's the difficult part for the football club."

MEET THE OFFICIALS

Geoff Eltringham

Geoff Eltringham will be the referee when Swansea City host Millwall this afternoon. It’s the third time he’s taken charge of a Swans match this season.

He will be assisted by Mark Russell and Matthew McGrath. David Rock is set to be fourth official.

REMEMBER THE LAST TIME?

Ryan Manning passes the ball against Millwall

Swansea City conceded two own goals in stoppage time to draw with Millwall on the Lions last visit to SA1.

Ryan Manning had given the hosts the perfect start when he found the far corner after just 52 seconds, before Michael Obafemi quickly doubled the lead with his first goal of the season.

However, Ben Cabango and Nathan Wood both sent the ball past Andy Fisher in injury time to give the Lions a point.

PRIME NUMBERS

– The Swans’ form over four games is the second best in the league having picked up 10 points from a possible 12. Visitors Millwall top the table with four consecutive wins.

39 – This is a fixture which often favours the home side, and the Swans have lost just twice at home to Millwall since 1985.
