Swansea City Women v Wrexham

Swansea City Women travel to STōK Racecourse as they look to continue their long unbeaten in the Genero Adran Premier this afternoon (2pm kick off).

The Swans return to league action after seeing last weekend's game against Aberystwyth postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Wrexham come into the game seeking their first points of phase two, having suffered a 6-1 defeat to league leaders Cardiff City in their last outing.

Swansea currently sit second in the Welsh top-flight, six points ahead of third-placed Wrexham with a game in hand

PRE-MATCH VIEWS

Chris Church v Cardiff City Women

Swansea City Women interim head coach Chris Church: “To be playing in an EFL stadium again is exciting, they will have a big support there which will be a test and it will be a tough game, but I’m looking forward to it and I know the players are.

“We have big-game players here, they’ve won trophies, played in front of big crowds in big stadiums before, so they’ve all got that experience.

“I thought we were good value for our win last time out, the scoreline probably didn’t reflect the performance, we controlled the game on the day.

“We will learn from our mistakes and grow from them and I’m expecting us to go and put a big performance in and keep us in that title race.”

PREVIOUS MEETING

Steph Turner v Wrexham Women

The two sides last met just two weeks prior to this game, with the Swans opening phase two with a 3-2 win.

Steph Turner put the Swans ahead after nine minutes, heading home a cross from Katy Hosford for her first goal of the season.

But it wouldn’t take the visitors long to respond as Amber Lightfoot found the bottom corner from close range just a minute later.

However, the Swans would be back in front before the break after a superb solo run from Hosford ended with the skipper firing into the roof of the net to make it 2-1.

Hosford would add her second after the interval, heading home from close range to extend the Swansea lead.

Carra Jones pulled one back late on for Wrexham with a low strike, but it wouldn’t be enough to prevent Swansea taking all three points.
