On Halloween night, it was a game that offered plenty of tricks and treats as the young Swans gave the League Two side a scare in the opening five minutes at The New Lawn Stadium when George Byers’ shot from the edge of the area forced Brad Collins into a low save.

The Swans could have taken the lead minutes later as Tyler Reid’s deep cross found Kenji Gorre at the far post only for Collins to claw the ball out from danger.

Swansea suffered a fright in the 25th minute as the home side went on the attack with Liverpool loanee Toni Gomes’ fierce shot saved by Gregor Zabret.

Gorre and Adnan Maric created further chances for the academy side but the best of the half fell to Courtney Baker-Richardson he broke through on goal to round the keeper only for the striker to fire into the side netting.

The young Swans had to hold their nerve in the second half as Forest Green attacked from the kick-off.

Gomes continued his trickery as he treated the home side to bright display as he forced Zabret into a good save from his volley before firing inches wide of goal moments later.

Gorre continued to impress down the left channel as he crafted a dangerous ball across the face of goal before Gomes again missed an opportunity to take the lead – heading Will Randall’s free-kick wide.

But Swansea’s persistence in attack paid off as Gorre beat substitute Keanu Marsh-Brown into the box to allow King to tap home from close range.

The under-21s doubled their lead three minutes later as Reid’s cross from the right found a number of Swans players queuing up with King providing the vital touch inside the area to double his tally and the Swans' advantage.

Gorre’s curling shot almost added a third before full time, but the victory ensured the Swans finished top of Group E South with three wins from three to secure a home tie in round two.
