A 97th-minute winner from Brogan Popham sent Swansea City Under-18s into the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup with a dramatic win against Hull City at the MKM Stadium.

Swansea found themselves one-goal up at the 10-minute mark thanks to a close-range tap in from Harvey Gray but Josh Ocaya got the leveller for Hull from his corner in the 33rd minute.

Caio Ifans restored the Swans' lead in the second half straight with a lovely volley from inside the area.

A stoppage-time equaliser from Hull's George Akinninranye looked to have sent the game to extra time, but Popham gave Swans' lead once again with seconds remaining as he netted from Ifans' free-kick.

The hosts created the first chance within the opening three minutes. A free-kick midway inside the Swans half fell to Zac Jagielka, who attempted a bicycle kick only for it to bounce wide.

Swansea keeper Tom Wright was then called into action from yet another Tigers' free-kick, as he gathered an effort from Ruben Silk at the back post.

Despite Hull controlling the opening 10 minutes, it was the Swans who took the lead.

A ball over the top from Popham landed at the feet of Callum Jones whose lay-off found Gray in-front of goal, and the striker made no mistake to tap it home.

The Swans kicked on from their opener, and looking dangerous with Kai Rhodes and Jones proving lively on the flanks.

Jones threatened again, firing an effort goalward from a tight angle, but Tigers' stopper Jake Hopper gathered at the second attempt.

Jones again dribbled his way into the penalty area to unleash another powerful strike, only to see it go over the bar.

However, just beyond the half-hour mark, the hosts netted the equaliser from a corner-kick as Ocaya's delivery from a corner curled straight into the goal.

Hull then thought they'd taken the lead just after the restart. Jagielka's fine individual run ended with him finishing well from the edge of the box, but there was a huge let-off for Swansea as it was ruled out for an offside.

The visitors made the most of the goal being chalked off and regained the lead following a thrilling end-to-end attack.

A superb touch by Ifans from Carter Heywood's high ball allowed the left-back to take a touch and volley home at the near post.

Bobby Moore then saw his header ricochet off the woodwork from a Hull corner, before directing another headed effort high and wide shortly after.

The Swans looked to be facing extra-time when Akinninranye fired home after a block on the line from Ifans with 94 minutes on the clock.

But there was more drama to come as Jones won a free-kick, Ifans fired it low and Popham latched on to the rebound to find the net with a fine finish to send the young Swans into the fourth round.
