Report | Leicester City U18s 5 Swansea City U18s 1

2nd March
Joel Cotterill

Joel Cotterill’s first goal for Swansea City Under-18s was not enough to prevent a 5-1 defeat against an in-form Leicester City in Premier League South.

Terrell Pennant scored twice at Belvoir Drive as the Foxes recorded their third straight victory, while inflicting an eighth successive defeat on the Swans.

However, there were positives for the visitors with Cotterill’s consolation providing his first goal for the under-18s.

Meanwhile, there were also a maiden appearance at this level for new signing Rio Campbell, as well as Ben Lloyd and Josh Carey.

Anthony Wright’s side fell behind after just six minutes as, fresh from scoring a brace in the previous week’s 5-2 win over Arsenal, Pennant continued his rich vein of form.

Will Russ doubled the lead from the penalty spot just after the break, before Pennant’s fourth goal in two games increased the hosts’ advantage.

Cotterill did pull a goal back with 18 minutes remaining, but it proved no more than a consolation for the Swans.

Shane Flynn restored the three-goal buffer in the 80th minute before Jake Thomas put through his own net in the dying moments to seal a commanding win for Leicester.
