Report | Swansea City 2 Hull City 2
Swansea City extended their unbeaten run to six games in all competitions, but were denied a third win in four Championship games as John Egan struck a last-gasp equaliser for Hull City at the Swansea.com Stadium.
Zan Vipotnik scored for the fourth Swansea game in a row with a smart low finish, only for Oli McBurnie to quickly level for the Tigers.
Ronald struck what looked to be the winner at the end of a sweeping Swansea counter, while Lawrence Vigouroux made outstanding stops from Joe Gelhardt and Kyle Joseph at the other end.
But there was nothing the keeper could do when a strike pinballed around the area and fell for Egan to fire home.
The Swans had shown one change from victory over Sheffield Wednesday with Malick Yalcouye coming in for injury absentee Marko Stamenic.
New signings Adam Idah, Manuel Benson and Ishe Samuels-Smith were all named among the substitutes.
Following a perfectly-observed minute’s silence in memory of the four people who lost their lives in an accident at Gleision Colliery 14 years ago, the home side made the brighter start and had plenty of joy down the right flank where Zeidane Inoussa caused plenty of problems.
Vipotnik was at the heart of one particularly smart move that saw the Slovenian drop deep to link play and allow Ethan Galbraith to send Josh Key into space down the right, with Hull scrambling to head clear the full-back’s delivery to the far post.
Vipotnik fired over from Ben Cabango’s drilled pass on the 15-minute mark and the Swans continued to have the better of the game but without being able to force Ivan Pandur in the Hull goal into meaningful action.
Inoussa and Ronald swapped flanks, but the Swede remained a threat, cutting inside two defenders before firing narrowly over the bar from the edge of the box.
The opener arrived five minutes before the break with an assertive finish from Vipotnik who linked with Yalcouye before shifting his weight away from his marker to drill the ball past Pandur.
However, the scores were soon level again when former Swan McBurnie slid in to turn in a superb Ryan Giles cross right at the end of the opening 45 minutes.
And it required an outstanding save from Vigouroux to prevent Gelhardt from putting the Tigers in front when he met a fine cross into the area with a glancing header that looked destined for the bottom corner.
Cabango got himself in the way of a Kyle Joseph block as the visitors made the better start to the second period, but the Swans hit back to lead with a breakaway goal.
Yalcouye skipped away from John Lundstram’s challenge in midfield and the ball round its way to Inoussa. His chipped cross perfectly picked out Ronald’s run and the Brazilian calmly steered the ball into the net.
Sheehan sent on Idah for his debut in place of Vipotnik, while Jisung Eom replaced Inoussa after the winger’s best outing in a Swansea shirt yet.
McBurnie skewed a volley over the bar from a flick on in the Swansea box, although there were defenders queuing up to make the block had his effort been on target.
At the other end Hull had to scramble a set-piece away after Cameron Burgess had met a free-kick, while substitute Liam Cullen could not keep his header on target after arriving late to firmly meet Ronald’s delivery.
Vigouroux then made another excellent stop when Joseph attempted to steer a shot into the bottom corner through a number of players, and then held a firm header from Enis Destan and palmed away Joel Ndala's rising strike inside the final five minutes.
And there was still time for Josh Key and Ben Cabango to combine to make a huge stoppage-time block in the final seconds as Egan looked set to find the net from close range.
But Egan made no mistake in the final minute of the seven added on to ensure the spoils were shared.
