Report | Swansea City U18s 1 Bristol City U18s 1

8th January
Aaron Hillier

Swansea City Under-18s kicked off 2022 with a draw against Bristol City, having been denied all three points by a late Robins equaliser at Landore.

The Swans - playing for the first time since December 14 - led for the majority of the game after Aaron Hillier’s goal just beyond the half-hour mark.

The Robins were reduced to 10 men in the second half and it looked as if Swansea would double their lead as they created a number of chances, but instead the visitors would find a leveller with just four minutes to go through Ephraim Yeboah.

Swansea came flying out of the gates straight from the whistle, with Iwan Morgan rounding the goalkeeper before Jamie Knight-Lebel cleared his shot off the line just eight minutes in.

Morgan was sent through again, dragging a low effort just wide before Geoff Bony’s near post effort was saved by Mac Boyd in the Bristol City goal.

The visitors started growing into the game, Joseph James’ curling effort from distance going just wide of the far post.

But the Swans would find a breakthrough 30 minutes in, Morgan’s shot was well saved by Boyd, but he could only parry the shot as far as Hillier who fired it into the open goal.

The visitors were reduced to 10 just after the break, with Dylan Lewis receiving a straight red card for his tough challenge on Dan Watts.

Kyrell Wilson came close to doubling the Swans lead soon after, Seb Dabrowski’s long ball sending the forward through, but his lofted effort went just over the bar.

Omar Taylor-Clarke tried an effort from distance, but Hughes pulled out another acrobatic save to keep it 1-0 in Swansea's favour.

But the Robins would get back on terms with just four minutes to go, substitute Yeboah firing a low effort into the bottom left corner.

Wilson came so close to restoring the Swans lead, his incredible dribble through the Robins box finding him space, but he fired his effort over the bar.
