Richards excited by Dhanda signing

Gary Richards believes new recruit Yan Dhanda will prove an excellent addition for Swansea City.

Attacking midfielder Dhanda signed a two-year deal at the Liberty Stadium this week following a five-year spell at Liverpool.

Dhanda scored six goals in 25 appearances for the Reds under-23s in 2017-18, including an impressive strike in the 2-0 victory over the Swans in the opening game of the season.

The 19-year-old has joined the Swans because he believes he will have a better chance of breaking into the first team at the Liberty than he had at Anfield.

It remains to be seen whether Dhanda will start the 2018-19 season with the first team or playing development football.

Either way, Richards reckons the Swans have signed a talented player.

“He looks like an exciting prospect,” the Swans under-23 coach said.

“He was well thought of at Liverpool. He will add to what we’ve got and I am sure he will do well here.

“He is a proven scorer at development level and has scored some impressive goals this season. He is still young, so we are excited by the signing and look forward to seeing him in action.”
