Sigurdsson: Team-mates key behind scoring form

17th March

Gylfi Sigurdsson pointed to his team-mates as the key reason behind his stunning scoring form in 2016.
The 'Ice Man' has been on fire in front of goal for the Swans this year, leading the scoring charts with nine goals so far.
During his 11 appearances since the new year, Sigurdsson has scored seven goals to take his tally to nine for the campaign - the latest coming in last weekend's 3-2 defeat at Bournemouth.
And the modest midfielder was quick to point out the major factor behind his change of form in front of goal.

"Before the turn of the year I only had scored twice," said Sigurdsson. "I thought once the first came along it would kickstart my form in front of goal, but it didn't turn out like that.
"We weren't performing as a team, and it was quite frustrating for us all. But we've turned that around, and now we are getting each other into better spaces and creating more chances.
"That means I've had more opportunities to score, and my recent run of goals is certainly down to the effort and quality of my team-mates. Without them, I wouldn't have scored seven in my last 11 appearances."
Sigurdsson hopes to find the net once again on Saturday when the Swans host Aston Villa at the Liberty (5.30pm).
Francesco Guidolin's side sit eight points above the bottom three ahead of the meeting with Villa, who prop up the Premier League table.
The visitors arrive at the Liberty nine points adrift of Sunderland, who sit 17th in the table, with Villa winning just three of their league games this season.
But Sigurdsson is adamant the Swans won't underestimate Saturday's opponents as they look to take another step towards Premier League safety.

"This is going to be a really tough game," said Sigurdsson, who scored in the 2-1 win at Villa Park last October. "Villa are fighting for their lives and every game is crucial from here on in for them.
"But the same goes for us. We are by no means safe, and we want to get to 40 points - and beyond - as quickly as we can.
"It's been a strange season for us, but we know three points on Saturday would give us a big boost in maintaining our Premier League status."
