Swansea City have lodged an appeal against Leroy Fer’s sending off at Wolves on Saturday.

The midfielder was shown a straight red card in the 67th minute of the Emirates FA Cup tie for a foul on Helder Costa which was deemed by referee Anthony Taylor to constitute violent conduct.

But boss Carlos Carvalhal insisted after the game that Fer should have been cautioned rather than dismissed for the offence.

With Fer facing a three-match suspension which would see him miss Premier League games against Newcastle and Liverpool as well as the cup replay against Wolves, the Swans have appealed against Taylor's decision.
