Swansea City have received a double boost with both Martin Olsson and Kristoffer Nordfeldt expected to be ready to start the season.

The duo were part of the Sweden squad which reached the World Cup quarter-final this summer, with Olsson making two appearances in the knockout stages.

Olsson, who made 43 appearances in all competitions for the Swans last season, has been given time to recuperate and will return to the Swans camp after the club’s pre-season tour.

That means he is expected to be available for selection ahead of the opening Championship fixture at Sheffield United on August 4.

Nordfeldt, meanwhile, will be part of Graham Potter’s squad travelling to Germany and Austria for the forthcoming pre-season tour.

“Kristoffer will be back with us in time for the tour,” confirmed Potter. “He hasn’t been involved in the games in the World Cup, so he’s ready to be a part of our pre-season tour.

“Martin needs a bit more of a rest because he played all of last season and then was involved in games for Sweden at the World Cup.

“It’s more a mental break for him. It is an opportunity to freshen the mind.

“He can spend time with his family, which is important after a long season.

“He’s not a young lad – he’s an experienced professional, so he knows how to look after his body.

“Then it will be a case of having a week’s training and returning to the group. He’ll be fine after that.”
