Swans launch link with two Valley schools

Swansea City have launched a coaching partnership with two schools in the Welsh Valleys.
Students from Treorchy Comprehensive School and St John Baptist Church In Wales High School in Aberdare will both benefit from coaching and skills sessions with Swans Academy.
Academy coach Joel Moody will work with pupils and staff each week at both institutions to teach them Swansea's playing style and help improve their football skills.
Swans Academy Manager Nigel Rees said he was excited at the prospect of Swans Academy and Development coaches working in new areas of Wales.
"This is an innovative programme in conjunction with two excellent schools in the Rhondda Cynon Taf area." He said.
"These partnerships will give Swansea City an opportunity to see as much young footballing talent from the Valleys as we can, helping the club spread into new areas."
"Young players not only get the opportunity to train and develop with a Premier League club but also we get to see what footballing talent is on offer in the Rhondda Cynon Taf area."
Swans ambassador Lee Trundle joined staff and students at both schools last week to launch the partnership, with Magic Daps taking charge of a training session for years seven, eight and nine at St Johns in Aberdare while hosting a question and answer session, giving football advice and training tips to students at Treorchy Comprehensive.
St John Baptist Headteacher Doctor Sue Mitchell added: "Our school community is delighted to be working in partnership with Swansea City Football Club.
"It is a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to be able to access such high quality coaching at the school.
"The club has motivated and inspired our players and we are so excited to be involved with them."
