Swans legends roll back the years in charity match presented by Joseph's Smile
A number of Swansea City legends rolled back the years as the Swansea.com Stadium played host to a star-studded charity fixture – presented by Joseph’s Smile - to help raise vital funds to support children and families affected by cancer.
Team Wales took on Team Europe in SA1, with the likes of Chico Flores, Joe Allen, Leon Britton, Alan Tate, Neil Taylor and Angel Rangel among those to feature.
The teams - wearing kits inspired by the gold ribbon, the international symbol of childhood cancer awareness – served up and entertaining contest that Team Europe eventually won 4-3.
Helen Ward had given Wales the lead only for strikes from Lee Trundle and Dejon Noel-Williams put Europe ahead.
Chloe Chivers and Noel-Williams exchanged further goals, before Trundle’s second put Europe 4-2 ahead at the interval.
An Almami Moreira own goal clawed a goal back for Wales, before Noel-Williams rounded off his hat-trick.
Joe Allen again trimmed the deficit, but Luis Boa Morte scored straight from the resulting restart to round off a 6-4 win for Europe on an enjoyable afternoon for a great cause.
Joseph’s Smile was founded in August 2022 in memory of three year old Joseph Yeandle, who passed away from neuroblastoma in 2021.
The charity, which was created by Joseph’s mother Katy and his aunt Emma, supports families affected by childhood cancer through financial services, awareness campaigns, research projects and bereavement initiatives.
A fixture was previously held in Swansea in 2024, and the money raised from this game will support Joseph’s Smile, two childhood cancer research trials launching later in 2026, as well as five charities and campaigns across Wales in the form of, Morgan’s Army, LATCH Welsh Children’s Cancer Charity, Kids Cancer Charity, the Jacob Crane Foundation and the Kids Get Cancer Too campaign.
