Swans the talk of the Royal Welsh

25th July

Swansea City's appearance at the Royal Welsh Show this week has been hailed a "great success" by organisers.
The club showcased the brand to over 200,000 people in Mid Wales over the past four days, with soccer sessions, a season ticket giveaway and of course Cyril the Swan.
Ambassadors from the community section of the Academy, including coach Nia Davies, were on hand for the two-hour daily soccer sessions to give fans the chance to train like a pro and win prizes.
Academy Manager Nigel Rees said: "It was a great success for us. I think the event allowed the Swans to spread our wings further to another area of Wales, allowing more people to see what our brand stands for.
"It also allowed us to reach fans and communities we would not usually be able to - it is easy to forget that Swansea City does have fans Wales wide.
"One of the organisers even came and told me we were the talk of the show."
A prize draw for two season tickets helped raise over £3,000 for the club's SwansAid charity.
Over a thousand Swans shirts were also given away to any fan who spent £5 on the raffle.
Nigel added: "The success of our presence at the show this year only proves Swansea City can develop a base with other communities we can't usually reach.
"A number of Swans fans also travelled up to the show just to speak to our members of the club and to take part in the activities.
"I would also like to pay tribute to our team who went down to the event, which included Nigel Matthias, Jon Trulove, Chris Badman and Nia Davies."
