Swansea City celebrate first Girls’ and Women’s Academy Awards evening
Swansea City celebrated the bright young stars of the club’s Girls’ and Women’s Academy on Monday evening, with their first-ever Awards Evening taking place at the Swansea.com Stadium.
During the event, all academy age group players from the under-13s through to the under-19s were recognised with medals.
Individual awards were also handed out, with each age group naming a Player of the Season - voted for by coaching staff - a Players' Player of the Season, and recognising each side's respective Top Goalscorer.
The evening provided an opportunity for players and their families to celebrate a successful year on the pitch, particularly following a landmark season for the academy.
The 2025-26 season was the first year the under-13s and under-15s sides competed in organised fixtures after the club were awarded a Football Association of Wales Academy Licence, with the latter also bringing home silverware after defeating Briton Ferry Llansawel on penalties to win the Hugh James South Wales Football Association Girls' Cup.
The under-17s also enjoyed a positive campaign, reaching the semi-finals of their League Cup, while the under-19s lifted the Genero Adran Championship Conference title and reached the semi-finals of the West Wales Cup before eventually losing out to senior side Pure Swansea.
There were also senior breakthroughs for two under-19s players this season. Lowri Jones made her debut in a 10-1 victory over Pontypridd United in October, scoring twice on her first-team bow, while vice-captain Susanna Cunningham made her maiden first-team appearance in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup victory over CPDM Llanystumdwy in December.
Jones, who was instrumental for the under-19s throughout the campaign, scored 36 goals for the age-grade side this season to claim the Top Goalscorer award.
Cunningham was named Player of the Season, with coaches praising her development throughout the year as she stepped up as captain and contributed 21 goal involvements in 25 matches. Forward Ellie Gibbins secured the Players’ Player award in recognition of her work ethic on and off the pitch.
At under-17s level, Mollie Jones claimed the Player of the Season award, while Alix Green finished as Top Goalscorer with 20 goals. Kelsea Verallo-Nicholas was voted Players’ Player of the Season, with both Green and Verallo-Nicholas also stepping up to feature for the under-19s during the campaign as part of the academy pathway.
In the younger age categories, Mia Price picked up the under-13s' Player of the Season award, while Ava Carman’s return of nine goals earned her the Top Goalscorer prize. Ella Bowen was voted Players’ Player by her teammates.
At under-15s' level, Lily Stabler was named Player of the Season following an impressive campaign, while Molly Silcox’s 16 goals saw her collect the Top Goalscorer award. Goalkeeper Chloe Rees rounded off the winners by being named Players’ Player of the Season.
