Swansea City’s fans' forum and charity fundraising evening hosted by Carmarthen Town AFC at the St Peter’s Civic Hall raised £4,000 to be split between two worthy organisations: Swansea Bay Health Charity’s Cwtsh Clos appeal and The GO Jones Scholarship.

Singer-songwriter, and Swans hospitality matchday host, Mal Pope, represented Cwtsh Clos at the event, sharing the emotional story of his grandson Gulliver’s time in the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit and vital provision Cwtsh Clos – five two-bedroom houses which are available free of charge - offers to families of sick and tiny babies.

Carmarthen Town AFC’s Llyr James explained the value of The GO Jones Scholarship which is open to boys and girls who would benefit from additional financial support to join Carmarthen Town Football Club’s UEFA Licensed Academy. The scholarship provides access to the academy for those by funding kit, coaching and a number of citizenship programmes.

Through generous donations via a pay-what-you-can honesty raffle and an auction, supporters on the night raised a fantastic £1,645. Swansea City Supporters Trust Chair Dave Dalton kindly contributed an additional £1,000, while the figure was rounded up to £4,000 with a generous £1,355 donated by Swansea Building Society.

“It’s been a fantastic evening, and has raised some great money for two really good charitable causes as well,” said Paul Ashley-Jones Carmarthen Town AFC communities director.

“The scholarship funds academy places for disadvantaged children, and the money raised tonight will help fund a large number of places next season and we’re delighted.”

Swansea City Supporters' Trust Chair, Dave Dalton, added: "It's been great to help arrange this event on behalf of Carmarthen Town. It's something the Trust are always looking to do more of as it undoubtedly helps supporters feel a closer connection to the club and directly ask questions that are important to them.

"To be able to add a fundraising element to the forum worked amazingly well too and to be able to raise £4,000 with the help of everyone who attended plus the generosity of Alun Williams and the Swansea Building Society made it an evening to remember."

Swansea City would like to thank everyone who attended the event and all those who contributed to the fundraising efforts including Dave Dalton and Swansea Building Society.

We would also like to thank Carmarthen Town AFC for hosting the evening.
