Swansea Supporters’ Trust bowling evening – held at Swansea’s Superbowl UK on Tuesday evening - was a huge success with more than £2,000 raised on the night.

The event is continuing to make money through auctions and raffles and the final total is set to rise before being donated to Swansea City charity partner Noah’s Ark as well as the Swansea City AFC Foundation.

The event saw Swans Trust members and their families together with Swans supporters take over the entire bowling complex with five fans to a lane before being joined by a first team player.

It provided a unique opportunity for the Jack Army to spend time with their heroes in a relaxed environment.

Swans head coach Russell Martin was pleased to have the chance to see the fans again during the one-month mid-season World Cup break.

He said: “The fans are the most important people at any club because they’ll be there forever.

“We’re lucky as a club that we have so many young men in our team who are willing to interact with the supporters like this.

“It’s a nice event. There’s a lot of people and charities in need of help after the last couple of years, and we’re really pleased to be able to support two of them through this event.”

Trust chair, Dave Dalton, added: “To be able to do this sort of thing and have Russell [Martin] and all the other players come out is fantastic. We’re really appreciative of it.

“You can see all the kids here having a whale of a time, meeting the players.

“The Trust want to give something back to the supporters and so to be able to create an event where we can encourage the manager and the players to come and interact with the supporters makes it all worthwhile.”

As well as giving members of the Jack Army a fantastic evening with incredible access to the players, the evening also served as a fundraising activity. Head of Swansea City AFC Foundation Paul France was delighted for the support.

He said: “I can’t thank the Supporters' Trust enough.

“To put on this event in support of Noah’s Ark and the Swansea City AFC Foundation just goes to show how special this club and Trust are.

“Players and manager are the main attraction and of any football club and for them to get involved in nights like this – especially with so many young fans here – is brilliant.”
