Swansea City Under-18s Aston Villa Premier League

A spirited fight-back could not stop Swansea City Under-18s falling to a 4-2 defeat at Aston Villa in Premier League South on Saturday afternoon.

The scholars found themselves two goals behind after a quarter of an hour at Bodymoor Heath Training Ground as the home side took control of the game in the first half.

But, the resurgent U18s battled back in the second-half to draw level on 65 minutes.

Defender Aaron Lewis converted from the penalty spot before frontman Brandon Griffiths ran onto a through ball from Causso Darame and equalised with a fantastic effort.

And Darame could have given the scholars the lead only for his effort to be well saved by Villa's keeper before the hosts scored two late goals.

Despite the defeat, coach Eric Ramsay took positives from his side's fighting performance.

"It was a spirited performance from the lads today," he said. "We showed incredible fight to come back from two goals down, but it has not been enough.

"Our squad has been hit with injuries again during the game and we ran out of steam in the second-half.

"As always we need to continue to build on our performances and push on from this result.

"We showed quality play in parts and can take positives from the game, but we need to work on areas where we give goals away."
