Swansea City Under-18s Chelsea

5th August

Swansea City under-18s ended their pre-season schedule with a well-earned 1-1 draw away at Chelsea on Wednesday afternoon at Cobham training ground.
The young Swans welcomed back a number of players who recently played-up with the under-21s this pre-season, Adnan Maric and Stephen Fallon both coming back into the starting line-up.
Both teams started brightly, producing a fast-flowing entertaining first half of football with each side creating chances in front of goal.
The home side missed an opportunity to take an early lead with Swans keeper Lewis Thomas saving well from a Chelsea attack only for the rebound to hit the post.
Swansea took the lead after 18 minutes as a Tom Holland cross from the left met the head of frontman Liam Edwards to flick into the far corner.
Chelsea continued to push for a goal, but they saw a chance cleared off the line along with missing a penalty before the break.
Swansea made eight chances at half-time and continued to play well in patches while Chelsea fought to battle their way back into the game.
But Lewis Thomas kept them at bay for large parts before the hosts found a breakthrough three minutes from time as a low cross from the left wing was tapped home from six yards out.
