Swansea City Under-23s Cameron Toshack

Cameron Toshack believed Swansea City Under-23s were unlucky not to take something from their Premier League 2 clash at Middlesbrough, which ended in a 2-1 defeat.
The young Swans controlled large spells at Victoria Park, but it was the home side who took the lead through striker Arnel Jakupovic in the 72nd minute.

The visitors levelled five minutes later after Oli McBurnie pressurised Mark Kitching into conceding an own goal, but Boro netted the winner late on through Callum Cooke.

The result ends the Under-23s' unbeaten run in Division 2 and despite the defeat Toshack believes there are plenty of positives to take from the game.

"It was a competitive match between two very good sides," the Under-23s coach said. "The first 25 minutes of the game was the best I've seen us play this season.

"We created plenty of chances in front of goal, which, on another day, we could have netted two or three.

"It was disappointing to have played the way we did and not get our rewards from some excellent chances. Myself and Gary (Richards) feel we deserved at least a point tonight but fine margins have cost us.

"The difference was the quality in the final third. We were unable to keep possession in the closing stages, while they managed to take their chances which cost us.

"The game was close and it could have gone either way. In tight games like that we need to realise we need to keep possession.

"I was pleased with the reaction after we went a goal down. There are plenty of positives from tonight but, as always, there are things we must learn to go forward."
