Swansea City forward Taite Trivett emphasised the importance of the team securing silverware after their 6-0 victory over Cwmbran Celtic Women in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup semi-final.

Braces from Stacey John and Aimee Deacon, along with goals from Trivett and Emily Richards, secured the victory against the Genero Adran South side in what was a very professional performance from Yzzy Taylor’s team.

It marks the first time the Swans have reached the final of the competition since 2018, when they defeated Cardiff City 2-1 at the Cardiff City Stadium. Cardiff will once again be their opponents in the final on April 19 at Rodney Parade.

Trivett has been in fine form during her second season with the club after joining from Barry Town United, registering seven goals and 13 assists in all competitions, including four goals and five assists in just four matches in this competition.

Trivett felt it was a dominant performance throughout, but admitted the team were able to step up another level in the second half. She also believes the result provides perfect preparation as the Swans continue their push for the Genero Adran Premier title in their remaining five league matches of phase two.

“We came into the game with a point to prove and with the aim of reaching the final. We did that and worked well as a team. Cwmbran caused us problems and it definitely wasn’t an easy game, so we had to figure things out on the pitch.

"It was a strong first half and it was important for us to go into half-time with that three-goal lead, but we knew we wanted more from ourselves. We knew 3-0 wasn’t enough and that we could perform better, so we spoke about our standards at half-time and thankfully we were able to build on that and find another three goals in the second half.

"My job as a winger is to get crosses into the box, so that’s what I try to do. The girls make great runs and thankfully two of them came off, and it was nice to get on the scoresheet again. I just want to help the team in any way I can, and now we have a Welsh Cup final to look forward to" She said.

"We’ve always had our eyes set on lifting silverware this season. We know we’re more than capable of achieving that as a team, so it’s really important that we’ve managed to get ourselves into the final this time around.

"The atmosphere within the group at the moment is really good, and getting our name into the final will only make us more determined and excited to prove ourselves and show what we’re capable of as a club

"It’s seven wins in a row for us now and I think the momentum going into the rest of phase two, and then the cup final, will be massive. We know how big a challenge it will be and that every game will be tough. Each team gives us different problems, and today was another example of that, but we showed our confidence in front of goal which will be vital for the final few league games against some strong opposition.”
