Toshack's delight at Youth Cup victory

17th December

Under-18s coach Cameron Toshack revealed his pride at seeing the young Swans progress to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup following Monday's victory over Watford.
At a cold and wet Stebonheath Park, the Swans came from a goal down to secure a 3-1 win and set up a home tie against either Doncaster Rovers or Norwich City.
Despite trailing after just seven minutes, goals from Owain Jones - who also missed a penalty - Stephen Fallon and Dan James secured a deserved victory.
The result not only means the Under-18s have won eight games in a row, but they have now lost just once in their last 12 matches in all competitions.
And Toshack was understandably delighted with the application and desire of the entire squad.
"Myself and Gary (Richards) are very proud of the players," he said. "Not just that, but the whole club can be proud of these youngsters.
"I was a little bit surprised with our start, because normally we start games very well. I think there were a few nerves out there, but after that we grew into the game with confidence and the boys deserve a lot of credit.
"The game was a different test for them - it was a knockout scenario and they acquitted themselves very well.
"In the second half we were very dominant. We went up a few gears and created plenty of chances. We also missed a penalty and had three cleared off the line.
"When you consider all that, I think we can be very pleased."
With the fourth round set to take place after the New Year, the Under-18s now look ahead to continuing their fine league form.
"We are just taking it one step at a time," said Toshack. "We have a game against Millwall on Saturday where we leave early in the morning, so we have Thursday and Friday to prepare for that.
"We are not looking any further than that, but its nice to be involved in a competition where it is up to you how far you go.
"But if they play like they did against Watford, and in games previously, then they can compete with most teams."
