Tremmel has the inside info

26th September

With the Swans taking on Arsenal on Saturday, Michael Laudrup only needs to look within his squad for the inside info on the Gunners' key men.
While Michu and fellow Spaniard Santi Cazorla both progressed through Real Oviedo's Youth system, there is another member of the Swans squad who has the key knowledge on Arsenal's star players - including their recent £42.5million showcase signing.
Gerhard Tremmel is no stranger to Mesut Ozil's talent, having gone up against the German midfielder during their stints in their homeland.
Tremmel was with Cottbus when an 18-year-old Ozil was an upcoming star with Werder Bremen following his transfer from Schalke.
And the Swans keeper, who is a former team-mate of Gunners defender Per Mertesacker from their time at Hannover, had no doubt that Ozil would go on to become a leading player in world football.
Speaking in an interview for Saturday's Jack Magazine matchday programme, Tremmel said: "When I played against him he was just a teenager, a boy of around 18. You could see that he was going to be a top player. His talent was evident.
"He is a great player at club level and on the international stage. He has the ability to play a final pass which splits defences. Mesut is someone we have to stop because he has started his career at Arsenal very well - he is the king of the assists."
Also in Saturday's edition of Jack Magazine, we take a look back at the 1999/2000 season in our 'Swansea City Years' feature, and we spoke to Academy goalkeeping coach Andrew Sparkes about his recent trip to Sierra Leone.
As well as this, former Swan Max Thompson looks back at a classic clash against Arsenal and we continue our 'A-Z of Liberty Jacks' as Ferrie Bodde, Tom Butler, Chad Bond, Febian Brandy and Fabio Borini are profiled.
Finally, Leon Britton is put 'Under the Spotlight', while we also look back at the official opening of the club's training complex at Landore.
There is all this and much, much more so don't forget to get your hands on a copy from around the Liberty Stadium.
The new-look bumper 76-page magazine is a must for every Swans fan and will be available around the ground, the club shop and online, plus Slee Stores in Plasmarl, Coggers on Wind Street and Browns Newsagent in Landore.
Jack Magazine . . . it really is too good to miss.
