Under-18s continue unbeaten run
19th October
Swansea City Under-18s maintained their unbeaten run with a 1-1 draw away at Leeds United on Saturday.
The Swans contained five first-year scholars in their starting line-up - with Owain Jones, Adnan Maric and Steve Fallon all called up to the club's Under-21 side for their clash with Barnsley.
But it was Leeds who took the lead after 14 minutes before Kyle Copp levelled the scores with a fine free-kick just before the break.
The visitors continued to press after the interval and Daniel James and Kieron Evans both saw goals ruled out for offside.
"The result is another good point away from home which underlines a pleasing team performance," said coach Cameron Toshack.
"We had to battle once again but I am pleased our youthful side stood up to the physical approach. It's pleasing to see our defensive unit are progressing and learning how to deal with that kind of pressure. At the same time I am encouraged with the chances we created."
Saturday's game also finally saw new signing Daniel James make his full competitive debut after arriving from Hull in the summer.
"I am so pleased Dan was finally able to feature for us in a competitive match, it was a real boost for the side," said Toshack. "It has been frustrating for Dan but to be fair he hasn't let it bother him and he showed glimpses of what he's capable of.
"Kieron Evans also deserves a special mention, stepping up the age ranks for the game. He didn't look out of place in the number 10 role."
The Under-18s now travel to Ipswich on Saturday, October 25 (11am).
