Under-18s suffer friendly defeat to Dagenham

14th July

The Under-18s' pre-season programme began with defeat as they went down 1-0 against Dagenham and Redbridge.
The visitors made a bright start at Landore and came close on two occasions before the hosts settled into the contest.
Swans midfielder Ben Jones saw a fierce drive tipped over by the Daggers 'keeper, while at the other end Lewis Thomas had to be alert to keep out a low shot from 18 yards.
However, Dagenham came even closer to opening the scoring shortly before the break as they struck the woodwork after a flowing counter attack.
The home side made seven changes at the break and found themselves a goal down just three minutes after the restart after a cool finish from inside the penalty area.
The Swans looked to respond and came close when Liam Cullen saw a close-range header cleared off the line.
Cullen was again involved late on as he was sent clean through on goal, but his tame effort was comfortably saved by the goalkeeper.
