Under-18s suffer opening-day defeat to Leicester

9th August

The Under-18s suffered a defeat in their first Barclays U18 Premier League game as Leicester City grabbed a 2-1 win at Landore.
The Swans took a first-half lead through Liam Edwards' goal just past the half-hour mark, but the Foxes hit back in the second half to earn all three points.
Leicester defender Josh Knight headed the visitors level from a free-kick, before Alex Pascanu's cross took a wicked deflection on its way into the net for the winning goal.
And coach Gary Richards reflected on what was the side's first test of category one football.
"It took us a little while to get used to the pace of the game," he said. "But once we settled we caused Leicester a few problems.
"The goal gave us a boost going into half-time but in the second half Leicester showed what a good side they were.
"The two goals we conceded were disappointing but it was a really good test for us overall."

SWANS U18s: Lewis Thomas, Mael Davies, Aaron Lewis, Dan Jefferies, Ben Jones (Ben Morgan, 88), Jack Evans (Jordan Jones, 70), Tom Dyson, Kieran Evans, Liam Edwards (Sean Hanbury, 80), Causso, Brandon Griffiths.
