Street Child World Cup

Young people from Swansea and Blaenau Gwent who will be representing Wales at the 2026 Street Child World Cup in the United States will make up the guard of honour for Tuesday evening’s fixture against Preston North End – 7.45pm kick-off.

Ten street-connected young people from across Swansea will make up the Wales boys team, while the girls team are based in Blaenau Gwent.

Street Child United (SCU) is a global movement that uses the power of sport, art, and advocacy to challenge the stigma faced by street-connected children and fight for their rights.

Ensuring  at-risk young people have access to sports, and other opportunities is also important to Snoop Dogg. And so the rap superstar has invited the two teams to take part in a pre-match towel twirl which he will be leading prior to kick-off.

He has also organised bespoke, one-off Snoop Dogg and Swans branded tracksuits for the 20 young people, which they will be wearing for the display and will be their travel wear for the competition.

The charity shines a spotlight on children living in street situations, the adversities they face and the fundamental rights they lack. SCU advocate for core demands including identity, protection from violence, gender equality and access to education.

Ahead of each FIFA World Cup, SCU connects street children from across the world to play football, take part in a festival of arts, and participate in child-friendly Congress sessions, all designed to empower and champion their rights.
