We're up for the cup, insists Carvalhal

Carlos Carvalhal insists Swansea City are determined to continue their Emirates FA Cup adventure when they take on Wolves at the Liberty on Wednesday (7.45pm).

The Swans welcome the Championship leaders to SA1 in a third-round replay, with a trip to League Two side Notts County awaiting the winners.

While Carvalhal’s primary concern is guiding his team off the bottom of the Premier League and out of the relegation zone, the Portuguese wants his side to make progress in the cup.

“It is a competition we respect and want to do very well in because the supporters love this cup, and so too do the players and staff,” he said.

“We want to go as far as we can, but of course this is a difficult tie. Wolves are doing very well in the Championship, but we are at home and we must make the most of that.

“The Premier League is the main priority overall for us, but the FA Cup is a big competition and we want to make sure we are in the next round with a good performance and good result.”

Carvalhal will run the rule over a number of players for the Wolves clash, with the likes of Mike van der Hoorn (hamstring), Renato Sanches (hamstring), Tammy Abraham (hip), Angel Rangel (calf) and Wayne Routledge (calf) all facing a race to be in contention for selection.
