Wright: U18s aim to extend unbeaten start

8th September

Coach Anthony Wright believes Swansea City Under-18s can extend their unbeaten run when they face West Ham at Little Heath on Saturday (11am).

A win and two draws mean the young Swans are yet to taste defeat in Premier League South this season with five points from nine, while the Hammers are still searching for their first point.

A late goal from midfielder Daniel Williams ensured the U18s earned a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa last month, and Wright wants them to maintain their resilience.

“I think we are making improvements every game,” the under-18s coach said. “We had the mental toughness to come back from a goal down against Villa.

“Jon (Grey) and I feel that game shows we have made progress compared to last season.

“We are really pleased with our start to the campaign but feel disappointed not to have taken three wins from three.

“West Ham have had a tough start and will be looking to prove themselves against us. So this will be another challenging game and one we must be ready for.”
