Yori Griffith "grateful" for three more years at the club
Midfielder Yori Griffith is 'grateful' to have extended his stay for three more years at his childhood club.
Griffith, whose contract was due to end this year, extends his stay at the club until June 2029, having worked hard to overcome a string of injury setbacks.
The 19-year-old has been at the Swans since under-10 level and has since progressed through the ranks; signing his scholarship prior to the 2023-24 season.
Signing his first professional contract in July 2024, Griffith has been a mainstay in Anthony Wright's under-21s' side over the last two campaigns.
"It's an amazing feeling. I had quite a tough season last year with injuries," said Griffith.
"I feel I have kicked on now, and this is the news I needed to ensure I put those injury frustrations behind me.
"I have the opportunity to progress even further now, and I'm picking up more opportunities with the first team so that's the main focus.
"If you told me a year ago, when I was out injured, that I was signing for another three years, I never would have believed you!
"I came back strong, with a few setbacks along the way but the staff and the boys have been incredible and I just want to keep working.
"I'm grateful they've seen something in me. Three years is a long time, and I'm glad that the club see me in their future, I'm so happy about that."
Griffith - who hails from Haverfordwest - has his sights set on continuing to improve as he works to fully overcome an injury-stricken year.
He scored a notable goal for the under-21s' in their 4-2 Premier League Cup win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in September, finishing off from a flowing team move, and also netted in the Swans'4-1 victory in the Cup against Millwall. Swans went on to reach the last 16 of the competition.
But the midfielder has been out of action since the new year, and is raring to go now he's back in full training.
"Pre-season was a challenge as I was coming back from injury, as I missed most of the playing time the season before," he added.
"As the season went on, I progressed and got fitter and got back to myself. September to December, I was very confident in my play and was playing well, and we were picking up a lot of good results.
"In late December, I picked up a small knock which set me back a bit but I'm back on the grass and raring to go."
