Young Swans start season with a point

18th August

Swansea City Under-18s got their league campaign off to a positive start with a thrilling 3-3 draw against Sheffield Wednesday at Fairwood.
The home side dominated the opening period and led 3-1 at the break thanks to a brace from Owain Jones and a Kyle Copp penalty.
However, despite being down to ten men after Connor O'Grady saw red for a professional foul, Wednesday roared back to claim a point with two second half goals from Freddy Tracey.
But despite letting a two-goal lead slip from their grasp, Under-18s coach Cameron Toshack was pleased to start the season with a point.
"Sheffield Wednesday are a very direct side, but they worked their socks off," he said.
"If you look at the facts, being 3-1 up at half-time and a man advantage, you think we should win the game but it wasn't to be.
"But the players have responded magnificently and maturely. They are now focussed on being better and the positive thing is that we came out of the first game with a point.
"We now need to look ahead to get a good week's training behind us ahead of Bristol City on Saturday."
