Russell Martin | Ben Cabango is in our plans for Rotherham
Russell Martin has confirmed Ben Cabango is set to be involved in Swansea City’s squad for the Championship opener at Rotherham, following a successful return from an ankle injury.
On July 20 2012, Swansea City completed the signing of Spanish forward Michu. He arrived in south Wales a largely unheralded addition to Michael Laudrup's squad, but he would go on to set English football alight during his time in SA1. To mark the 10th anniversary of his signing, you can relive all 28 of his goals for the Swans by watching our video package.
Joe Allen and Swansea City will not take any risks with the midfielder’s fitness, but the Wales international has his sights set on being involved in the opening fixture of the season at Rotherham should his recovery from a hamstring injury remain on its current track.
Russell Martin believes playing in front of fans for the first time in pre-season marked a good staging post in Swansea City’s preparations for the new season, and praised his medical and sports science staff for the excellent physical shape his squad is in as the 2022-23 campaign nears.
Head coach Russell Martin says there is plenty of work to do for his Swansea City side before the start of the Championship season, but was pleased with much of what he saw in their friendly draw at Plymouth.
