The best I've scored, says Sheehan

Josh Sheehan reflected on the best goal he's ever scored after his second-half strike against Cardiff City in the FAW Youth Cup semi-final.

The 18-year-old's 64th-minute wonder goal helped Swansea City on their way to their fifth consecutive FAW Youth Cup final after beating rivals Cardiff 3-1 at the GenQuip Stadium.

After Cardiff's Abdi Noor cancelled out Ryan Hedges' first-half opener, Sheehan restored Swansea's lead with a stunning effort, just past the hour mark.

From 45-yards out, the 18-year-old spotted goalkeeper Joe Massaro off his line before hitting a first-time strike on the bounce over the top of the Cardiff shot-stopper.

Substitute Kyle Copp put the result beyond doubt, ten minutes from time, when he converted from the spot after he was fouled inside the opposition's penalty area.

Speaking about his goal, Sheehan said it was the best he has ever scored.

"It just came to me from the throw-in, and I could see the goalkeeper was off his line, so I hit it," said the impressive young midfielder.

"I caught it sweetly, and it was probably the best goal I've ever scored.

"It came at the right time too after they scored their equaliser.

"During the first-half, I felt we kept the ball really well, but they came back into the game early on in the second and were on the front foot.

"But as soon as we got the second goal, we were all over them from then on.

"Now we are in another final, which means a lot to this club. It would be amazing to win the competition again - my third time."
